I go to a school where people’s style ranges from boho chic to ultra modern and everything in between. But one trend that hasn’t hit us yet is neon. I’ve seen it from time to time but I haven’t really seen a strong neon presence. Now, in terms of my style, I am not a true fan of something that is usually bright and in your face. But, for some reason, neon has been really striking my eye. Now, I’m not saying that you will see me walking down the street in a full-blown neon yellow dress with orange shoes and a highlighter pink bag, but I don’t really see the harm in rocking a bright pair of shoes or even wearing a yellow maxi skirt with a bone colored shirt. NOW…..there is a bad side to wearing neon. This is one of those trends that can be easily over done. A small hint adds some sass to an outfit but when it’s overdone, you look like a physical representation of a Sharpie brand highlighter. If you’re going to do it, always remember that in most cases, less is always more.

H&M
I am officially OBSESSED with H&M. I never really shopped there when I was younger because I thought that all of the clothes were for models and I would look weird in them (don’t ask me why). But last year, I was introduced to the magic by my roommate and I’m hooked. All of the stuff they have is absolutely gorgeous and they embody the 3 C’s. AKA the 3 golden rules I keep in the back of my mind anytime I want to buy anything:
- CLEAN
- CLASSIC
- CHIC
The ONLY problem that I have with them is the fact that they don’t ship in the US. I’m a college student without a car and I can’t always get to the mall, so online shopping is my go-to thing. I went on the H&M website and they show you what clothes they have and how much it is, but for some reason they don’t ship in America :(. Either way, I’m in love and trying to figure out if I know anyone who lives in London so what I can get things shipped to them and then have it shipped to me. Will it happen? Probably not. But there’s no harm in trying.
Tip of the Day: All the Glitters is Not Gold
Sequins have been all over the place recently and I kind of have mixed feelings about them. I have really simple taste (even though I’m the total opposite of simple) so if I’m going out to a party or I have an event where I want to add some glamour to the environment, then I’ll be the first one to wear subtle shine. Other then that, I’m not a fan. I think it’s weird when I see people walking around with shirts, pants and even shoes that can make a disco ball look like a dull 90-year-old lightbulb. There is nothing classy or generally acceptable about having a pair of sequined covered shoes (cough Uggs cough). Seriously, people. If you’re going to wear it during the day, I suggest that you pick something a little bit more mellow like this skirt. Even though it’s covered in sequins, the shine is subtle enough to not over power the rest of the outfit. Not to mention the geometric pattern is enough of a show stopper, so you don’t really need anything else. In the end, just keep it simple. Sometimes, when you think you’re understated, you may have just the right amount of sparkle to catch anyones’ eye.
The Beginning of an Era
For a while now I have felt myself changing. I know that there are the obvious reasons for change like that fact that I’m in college and I officially out on my own, but I feel like there’s something else … Continue reading
Me…
My style is who I am. You don’t have to like it because I do.
